Pittsburg Community Middle School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered 6th Grade ELA Teacher who is committed to delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that meets the diverse needs of all learners. The ideal candidate creates an interactive classroom environment where students are encouraged to think critically, communicate effectively, and develop strong skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

 

This teacher fosters a love of literature, supports the development of analytical and writing skills, and uses data-informed practices to guide instruction and intervention. The successful candidate works effectively as part of a team, values collaboration with colleagues, and actively contributes to a positive school culture.

Educational Requirements

Kansas Licensure

6-8 ELA, K-9, Elementary PRK-6

 

Our ideal candidate would be well-versed in the middle school ELA standards and have a good rapport with middle school children. It is imperative the candidate be a team player and willing to collaborate with fellow teachers.

Basic

• Maintain accurate filing systems.

Specific Functions

• Facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.
• Establish a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students.
• Work effectively with community organizations.
• Plan and implement effective lessons, using time, materials and resources effectively.
• Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.
• Display a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
• Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide individual differences.

• Maintain current curriculum and instructional practices.
• Coordinate and supervise field trips.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
