Educational Requirements

Functions and Responsibilities
Basic
- Support the philosophy and mission of USD 250.
- Support the value of education.
- Comply with the privacy rights of students.
- Safeguard confidential and/or sensitive information.
- Communicate effectively with all the members of the school district and community.
- Provide excellence in customer service both internally and externally.
- Maintain accurate filing systems.
- Ensure that all activities conform to district, state, and federal guidelines.
- React to change productively.
- Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
Specific Responsibilities
- Operate all equipment and machinery appropriately as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of building and premises (including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas) at all times.
- Ensure that classrooms, student gathering areas, and office areas are cleaned daily according to district specifications.
- Ensure that corridors and restrooms are cleaned daily according to district specifications.
- Maintain all floor surfaces according to district specifications.
- Maintain grounds around the building.
- Open and close building on school days.
- Raise the United States and the Kansas flags before school commences and take them down after school closing.
- Check emergency lights and fire extinguishers, fills in the date and initials the tag.
- Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bars are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
- Ensure that all doors and windows are secured and all lights are turned off (except as necessary for safety reasons) at the close of each school day.
- Report immediately to the Principal any unauthorized persons in the building.
- Report immediately damaged school property to the Principal and the Maintenance Director.
- Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required.
- Maintain mechanical equipment as directed.
- Make minor building repairs, and promptly report major repair needs to the Director of Maintenance.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
- Level 4 – Heavy Work
- Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10-20 pounds of force constantly.
- Extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
- Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crawling and turning.
- Requires climbing and balancing.
- Requires lifting, moving and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
